auction format

It's at this point that most people decide to give Ebay a try. I mean, we all know of somebody that supposedly makes money on there all the time. Right?

Let me clarify a few things here. First of all, I do believe that there are people selling things on Ebay every second, 24/7. Ebay is still around because of this. They get paid whether your item sells or not. And they give you options on how you want to go with your listing. It's not Ebay's fault if you don't sell your item. They spend a lot of money getting people to show up on their site, so if your item doesn't sell its not because of lack of traffic on the site.

The problem is there are umpteen thousand items on there just like yours. You have to make sure that your item gets noticed. There are ways to help that process along.

Keywords. The better you are at using good keywords, the more likely your item is to show up in the search engines on Ebay. So, if Jack and Jill are looking for a diamond tennis bracelet and you have the right combination of keywords in your listing they just might take a look at yours before they decide which one they want to buy.

So, if they did see your listing, I hope you had the good sense to include some great photos of that tennis bracelet. Give her an idea of what it will look like on her wrist. Show them that this is THE ONE they are looking for. TELL them what they need to know as far as quality, carots, etc. GIVE them some kind of guarantee. Make them feel good about buying it and you just might be the one they buy it from.

You have feedback, yet? It makes a difference. Especially if you expect someone to buy a diamond tennis bracelet from you. Get real, would you buy one from someone you didn't know anything about? Wouldn't you want to know that they had a good reputation from other buyers? And wouldn't you want to hear it from the buyers themselves? That's what feedback is there for. You earn it by buying and selling items. It goes both ways. So, if you are the kind of person that returns an item after you wore it, and it has make-up stains on it, then your feedback will be pretty bad. People will not be too quick to buy from you if you are known to be like that. THink about it.

Ok, real quick now. Most buyers on Ebay don't want to wait 10 days to buy your item. They will buy the one that is going off auction today more often than not. So, you pay extra to give people time to see your item and then the bids start coming in the last day or two. It's up to you, but I would go with a shorter time frame more often than not. Experience taught me unless its an exceptional valueable item, don't spend the extra money on the 10 day auction.

Before you list the item, pretend you are going to mail it and then find out exactly how much it will cost you to mail it and if the package you put it in is good enough to pass the post office inspection. If you don't do that, or something like that, you will lose your butt on that deal. I promise.

Don't like the fact that someone could bid one dollar on your diamond tennis bracelet and win the auction? heh heh heh That's okay, Ebay gives you tutorials for free on how to handle these things before you list any items for sale. I highly reccommend you read all of them before you go broke selling your items on Ebay. Ok?

Other than that, good luck, and be yourself. You just might make some money on Ebay. But don't quit your day job until you know for sure how to do it consistently.
