Yes! Blogging is easy and fun. What do you blog about? Pick something that you know a lot about. Pick something you talk a lot about. Whatever you decide, you just put it in a blog post and keep doing it on a regular basis. Run out of steam on what to say next? Join groups online related to your topic and you will find plenty of inspiration there.
Do you keep up with local/national/global news reports? Do you have thoughts and opinions on that? Blog on that! Do you buy magazines? Use those for fresh subject matter to blog on. If you can think, form an opinion, and talk about it, then you can blog about it. If you know anything about anything, you can blog about it.
Now sign up for Google Adsense, or some program like that, and put the code into your blogsite. Google will help you with training videos and articles on how to do all that. They even tell you how to bring more traffic to your site (blog). When you see that you are earning money with the ad program(s) you will be glad you thought to do that for yourself.
Now just keep doing what you've done and before you know it, you could be a pro blogger and quit your day job. You might pick up a copy of a book on blogging for even more tips. I like this one: "Blogging for Dummies". It's pretty simple and straighforward and it will give you plenty of ideas on how to get started. I borrowed it from the library, and ended up reading it all night. It was that good.
